Early With A Difference.

There have been a number of posts here recently whining about how early I had to get up. This morning, I was up before the sun, but only because that's when I woke up. No alarm. No schedule

So, I sat on the porch in the dark at 5:45 a.m. with a cup of coffee and my 'puter. I read the NY Post online and listened to the morning sounds. There were geese. There was some kind of screaming bird from the Tarzan movies. There was the beep, beep, beep of (presumably) a garbage truck in the distance.

Then there was a squirrel attack. A few of them showed up in nearby trees and started shaking limbs to knock loose nuts or whatever. It was really noisy and the "thud, thud, thud, thud, thud" of the nuts landing was a little disconcerting.

Add to that the fact that I couldn't see more than 50' through the fog. Now, the sun is up and the fog is burning off. The trees are backlit. I can see the other side of the lake. It makes me think maybe I should go fishing now.

BTW, it rained its ass off last night and I was kinda hoping that would continue this morning. I don't need an excuse to stay in the cabin and read and eat and read and eat and read and eat. But it would make me feel better about skipping activities.

Decision made. I'm going to fish a little and then I'm going to militantly skip activities for the rest of the day. There's way too much reading and eating to do.

Note: I know this was not the most exciting post I've ever written. Sue me. I don't have to think this morning and you can't make me.

Note 2: I've mentioned that I don't have cable TV at home and I don't miss it. This has been reinforced by what I've been watching. I know the financial crisis is serious and that someone is to blame. But regardless of which side they take, Cable News is poison. They're not helping. May I repeat. They're all poisonous. Don't watch them.

Are you sure the thud, thud, thud you heard isn't the sound of poorly pithed, retarded lobsters' claws hitting the ground as they crawl their way to you?

My co-blogger at the CB (and his source) agrees with you about the cable news people.

I am not trivializing the current financial crisis. I have no idea what the direction of the markets will take in the future. What I do know is the financial media have a vested interest in hyping extreme conditions because it is in their economic interest to do so.

Investors can learn from the terrible track record of the media in predicting the future of the markets. They are not a reliable source of information.

I'm totally pitching that to my horror-movie-making friend!

Nathan: I'm jealous, man. There really is something magical about getting up early when you don't have to, reading the news and listening to all the animals that will go back into hiding when all the people come to crash their party.

Nathan you're at your best when you're not thinking ;)

Now that's funny. I don't care who you are.

Me? Jealous? How could you possibly think that?
