Minister's wife was our choir director, and she was a frustrated music major and voice coach. I learned more about breath control and its kin vocal volume control from her before age 12 than I've learned the rest of my life since then.

I once had a boss tell me to quit yelling over the PA system. I told him I wasn't yelling, when I yelled he'd know it and I'd expect the management team to come running. About a week later I yelled over the PA, with cause, and they came running. Then they believed me.

Here's my point - if you're going to sing our anthem, and go for that last high C, you better be able to hit it (not slide into it) and hold it. I'm blessed (cursed) with perfect pitch hearing. A singer aims for that note and misses, it's like sticking an ice pick into my ear - painful!WendyB_09https://www.blogger.com/profile/03788918629240949526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-745748859173296736.post-58001191174560412962011-02-08T00:47:47.220-05:002011-02-08T00:47:47.220-05:00I'm not sure I can support limiting this to cl...I'm not sure I can support limiting this to classically trained singers. What we need is a new national anthem, one that suits our simpler, more direct times.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone wrote a perfect candidate with "America, Fuck Yeah!" If they are unwilling to donate the song to the public domain as a national anthem, I propose we write a song to be called "America (We'll Kick Your Ass)" using the chords E, A and D (the three basic guitar chords of rock'n'roll). Instead of our hard to play and perform anthem, "America (We'll Kick Your Ass)" would go E, E, E, A, A, A, D, D, D (repeat) and these lyrics:

America!
America!
America is awesome!

We'll kick your ass!
(repeat)

Note that this song is flexible: the whole thing could be less than a minute long (before sporting events) or repeated for hours (official state events).Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18275812152895151542noreply@blogger.com
