I grew up in a house with no AC and no nighttime heat in the winters (house was the epitomy of anti-insulation). And in more recent years, at that same takeout I've stood around in 100+ heat in the summertimes while being plagued by gnats. It certainly doesn't compete (to my mind at least) with deranged baboons and situations involving human poo caked all over the walls.MWThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09446603415730525882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-745748859173296736.post-21037792055706633162008-01-21T21:11:00.000-05:002008-01-21T21:11:00.000-05:00Well, the good news here is that tomorrow its supp...Well, the good news here is that tomorrow its supposed to warm up just a little. Just enough that instead of snow, we'll get really cold rain.

Yay.

MWT,

I really think standing in your supercooled wind tunnel would have rated on my crappy things to do at work post. :-)Nathanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00648438549121320566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-745748859173296736.post-81515263997257121162008-01-21T20:51:00.000-05:002008-01-21T20:51:00.000-05:00Hmm... I'm glad it's above freezing here, and that...Hmm... I'm glad it's above freezing here, and that I've been inside for most of the day. This weekend I had to stand around in an unheated takeout - the vent hood over the cooking area sucks all the heat right out of the store, so they don't bother to turn the heat on at all, plus when the vent hood is on it creates a constant draft. And it can't be turned off because then the grease fumes get really bad. It was probably about 50 inside with a helluva wind chill factor. I'll have to remember to wear five layers next week.

Meanwhile, today has sucked rotten eggs. -.- We had the endgame of some long, drawn-out chat melodrama, and there's still fallout left to go through. Uhm. That's a large part of why I haven't updated my own blog very much in the past week...MWThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09446603415730525882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-745748859173296736.post-41371007314931640952008-01-21T18:06:00.000-05:002008-01-21T18:06:00.000-05:006:00pm update. We've moved to a pier on the East Ri...6:00pm update.

We've moved to a pier on the East River, so now, in addition to the cold, we have a nice refreshing breeze.

Praying we wrap by eight.Nathanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00648438549121320566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-745748859173296736.post-88860979130349312292008-01-21T17:45:00.000-05:002008-01-21T17:45:00.000-05:00It's 11 F here in snowy Denver. Since the ski resorts were reporting something like 36" base and it was, you know, January in the mountains, we planned ahead. New thermal longjohns and sweaters and parkas and boots.

The whole week it was never colder than 45. Back home in the Akron-Cleveland area? Never warmer than 20.

So, then.
