If Only I Could Welcome My SpamBot Overlords!

Blogger seems to have changed the style of their Captcha Codes recently and, to put it mildly, some of them are a tad difficult to decipher.  Here, take a look at some.

I don't know about you, but I've had to try a few times to leave comments on other peoples' blogs lately.  And no, I'm not interested in having the machine read it to me first.  As far as I'm concerned, some of these are just slightly easier to figure out than quadratic equations.  Then again, robots probably solve quadratic equations quicker than I do.

In the interest of that "Do unto others" thing, I tried to disable them on my own blog, but alas, Blogger doesn't seem to offer that as an option.  Granted, turning it off here wouldn't have been as altruistic as it might sound.  After all, one of the best ways to hide information from the internet at large is to post it here on Polybloggimous!

Update: OK, I followed what Mrs. Bitch did and hopefully I've ditched the damned codes.  Let me know.  Thanks.

Why is why we can talk about the alien corpses down in hanger 13 at Write Patterson Airforce Base without out worrying the nutjobs and federals will catch on.

Yes, it seems to be working. They've been annoying me lately, too.

Nathan, completely off topic, but since you haven't posted a reading list lately, I'd like to suggest Wool a self-published novel by Hugh Howey.

I haven't read it all yet, but it seems to be pretty good. It is a story of a post-apocalyptic society living underground. And there's wool too.

Also, no cpatchas, so maybe I'm a robot.

Yes they have been annoying me lately, this is here essentially to test. If no follow up post, no word check.

I just failed to post my stupid comment over at Janiece's because the captcha was "conversation" with a 1700s "s" that looked like an "f".

REAL WORDS OR GOBBLEDEGOOK, CAPTCHA. I CAN'T HANDLE NOT KNOWING WHICH ONE YOU'RE TRYING TO SHOW ME.

Aaaaaaaaand,

Since dumping the word verification, I've gotten hit by three spambots. Blogger tossed them into the spam folder and they didn't show up anywhere else, but...

I guess we'll just have to see how heinous this becomes.

Oh, and timb111,

I looked up that book on Amazon and on BN (for my nook). You might need to give me a bit more of a review. Neither web listing gives any kind of description.

Otherwise? I like me some post-apocalyptic society writin'.

Here's the official Wool synopsis: “Thousands of them have lived underground. They've lived there so long, there are only legends about people living anywhere else. Such a life requires rules. Strict rules. There are things that must not be discussed. Like going outside. Never mention you might like going outside.

Or you'll get what you wish for.”

The omnibus version I linked to is made up of five short stories, about 250 pages. Well written, with a hint of Bradbury.

This first story sets the stage. The story opens with, "The children were playing when Holston climbed to his death". Three years earlier his wife had uncovered some secrets hidden in the depths of the computer system that suggested that their whole society was based on a lie. It lead to her death. Holston was following in her footsteps. What he discovered while committing suicide confirmed her findings...or did it?
