I noticed yesterday that I was approaching my 200th post here on Polybloggimous. I meant to keep track and try to make #200 a good one.
Then I forgot all about it. Then I wasted #200 telling you I'm having fucking hamburgers for dinner. I am a schmuck!
Ah well. I can alway commemorate the 500th post with a scintillating discussion of post nasal drip. Stick around. That'll be a real barn burner.

UCF Membership Is Now Officially Closed!
If you're looking for our round-robin writing game, Sophie from Shinola, it can be found here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Over on Snavely's Web Log, Kim (formerly Kimby and formally Kimberly-Ann, no E, thank you very much), asked who comprised the complete membership of the UCF. Snavely answered "...Nathan is very free with membership status, so the group grows all the time." For those of you unfamiliar with the UCF, it stands for Union of Collaborating Founders and (at least at first), was populated by a bunch of folks who had "met" over on Whateveresque, (I think mostly on Jim's Future Ultimate Emperor of the Universe (all Hail!) thread).
What it meant was that when I got around to starting this blog, I shamelessly ran around to all these peoples' blogs and promptly went off topic in whatever threads they had going and yelled, "Lookee, lookee! I started a blog! Come look! Puhleeeeeeeeeeze!" And those nice folks showed up and a few other folks drifted in from various places, and since I felt like I had lucked into a pre-established readership, I dubbed them the Union of Collaborating Founders.
So, here we are. It occurs to me that I have been rather free with membership and I'm happy I have been. I really like the regulars. I hope to attract pantloads more of 'em. But it also occurs to me that if I keep accepting new members, the concept of Collaborating Founders will soon lose all meaning and cache. So membership is now closed. And I'm not even going to list who the members are. You know who you are and it's more fun if we've got a little bit of that Secret Society thing going. So, congratulations all, on your status. Bathe in the radiated glory of it all.
That said, I feel the need to establish a group name for the thousands who will be pouring through the gates any minute now (or maybe by Thanksgiving...2009?). At any rate, (and this is open to UCF'ers and newbies alike), I 'd like some help coining the term for my future legions of acolytes. Polybloggimites sounds a little dirty...but in a good way. :D
Other entries are invited.

Nathan's State of the Blog Address
My fellow blogophiliacs, I appear before you this morning to fulfill my duty to give pertinent information on the State of the Blog. The State of the Blog is sound. (Well, actually, its all text at the moment, but Presidents always say that.) Four score and 16 days ago, a new blog was founded based on the proposition that I, Nathan, had a duty to spew forth inane content. To date, this blog has 116 individual posts. That's an average of 14.5 posts per week. I deem that some fine spewing indeed. (I base this solely on the NaNoWriMo concept that quantity trumps quality.)
In its short history, Polybloggimous has had over 2800 visitors (not of the unique variety which Nathan is completely incapable of determining.) The overwhelming majority of visitors hail from the U.S. and Canada with one visitor periodically dropping in from Pakistan and some (apparently) completely accidental visitors from various other European and Asian origins. (One recent Belgian visitor arrived based on a search for "youtube extra thick diaperies". Dude, we don't need to talk.)
These 8 weeks have seen steady growth and the blog now averages 63 visits and 128 page views per day.
For those of you who care about such things, 43% of you are using Win XP, 36% Mac OSX, 13% Win NT, 6% Sun OS Unix, and 2% Linux. 43% of you use Firefox 1.X, 24% IE 7.X, 13% IE 6.X, 13% Safari 1.X, 6% Mozilla 1.X, and 2% Opera 9.X.
Goals:
I have yet to attract a troll. I need me a troll so I can exercise my troll-bashing Gas Grill of Retribution Foominess muscles. In the event I'm not up to it, I need to get an anti-troll ghost writer on retainer.
I need to come up with Lunacy, Part Deux.
I need to send that snarky letter to Dominos.
Observations:
"nathansmusings.blogspot" is possibly the lamest URL in existence. Kids, be careful when first choosing your URL. You'll be stuck with it.
Having a list of ideas for blogging isn't very useful when you look at it and it consists of 7 ideas all vying for the position of "Most Boring Blog Entry Idea...Evar!"
In conclusion, I, Nathan do solemnly swear that I will continue to put words on the internet. I will artfully arrange them into paragraphs. I will use punctuation and italics and bolding. I will attempt, where possible to have the words and paragraphs convey messages of some sort. In short, I will do my utmost to uphold the high standards of blogadelphia.
Thank you. You are now free to move about the cabin.

My Blog is Rated

My blog is rated R, based (I'm told) on the presence of the following words:
- hell (8x)
- fucking (4x)
- hurt (3x)
- shoot (2x)
- ass (1x)
Update: The answer is a resounding Yessssssss!

Observations of a Polybloggimous, Bi-bloggular Newbie
So, between the two sites, I've now been a blogger for a little over five weeks. Here's some random stuff I'm thinking about today.
1. On There's No Crying in the War Room
I've posted eighteen chapters. If I trust MS Word, that's a little over 26,000 words out of 43,000 that I've already written. Take that with a grain of salt because I've found myself editing the newer chapters rather heavily before posting them, so I'm sure that a lot of the words I've already written in the as yet posted chapters will say bye-bye before they ever see the light of day.
I haven't gone back and edited previous chapters (as some of you told me I should), because I wanted to get the new stuff out there. And I wanted to get the template set up the way I wanted it. And I'm stubborn. I still like that first chapter. I like that it shows Paul living in his own head a lot. I like that it shows a character who bounces off onto tangents so much he even interrupts his own narrative.
I can still be convinced, but as it stands right now, I'd rather put the time into editing and posting new chapters. And getting to the point where I'm writing completely new chapters.
Yesterday, I was scanning the stuff I haven't posted yet because I wanted to start thinking about new chapters and found myself reading the chapter where [***Spoiler Alert***] Paul announces his candidacy. [/***Spoiler Alert]. I honestly can't wait to get to post that chapter. If I do say so myself, its a pretty funny chapter and I really like the way I set it up. The announcement shows up in Chapter Twenty-Seven, so you've got a little bit of time to get caught up. Go ahead. Read. Free Words!
BTW, I don't get that many comments over there, but I do see a fair number of hits, so there's a few people reading it...and coming back. I like that a lot.
2. On Polybloggimous
I'm having a blast with this. I love how stuff just gets out there and takes on a life of its own. I was aware that Eric makes periodic visits to Stonekettle Station, and I've seen him pop up in a number of your other blogs that I frequent. I don't think I knew he had ever been here. So last night when I couldn't find the post that Jim had put up explaining how to put "recent comments" into your sidebar, I went over to Eric's site and was ridiculously happy to see this. And then this. I know that there's been almost universal compliance within the Union of Collaborating Founders, (including this most recent entry), but I think its hysterical that its spreading. If anyone notices it further afield, please let me know. When I see some kid in Burundi posting pictures of his pet cow because its a law, I'll know my work is done.
Update: Apparently I stole this entire thing without remembering I was stealing it. In my defense, I totally forgot about that entry. And I thought it was an International law, not just a Federal one. And I posted the details of the law. And Widget really is a cute cat. 'Nuff Sed.
I was a little concerned when I started this about whether or not I'd be one of those bloggers who updates so rarely that you just stop checking in. Its been a rare day that I haven't managed to post something and there are more than a few multiple-post days. I even managed to keep things going in the middle of working on a job, so I'm patting myself on the back for keeping it going. BTW, on the work-front, I got a script for a possible new movie a couple of days ago. Its a really cool project, but I'm not gonna say anything more about it until...ya'know...I actually get hired.
Lastly, I told you guys about how I was an Extra in a scene during my last job, and that the Producer interviewed me for the Behind the Scenes reel he's been doing. He told me he'd upload the footage and give me a link tomorrow (if he could find a 12-year-old to help him), and I promise to post it as soon as I get it.
No matter how embarrassing it proves to be.
(We're still waiting to see the "Oh Yeah" dance. Poke. Poke.)

Wow! I'm bi-bloggular!
So, just a few weeks ago, I was all, "I'm not gonna have a blog" for a bunch of reasons, and here I am with two of 'em. I'm bi-bloggular or is that polybloggimous? The only reason I threw this site together was that I saw the story about the English graffiti guy and felt like telling everyone. I didn't want to throw it in the middle of the book, so, voila...Nathan haz muzings.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this place, but hopefully I can make it worth visiting. One thing I've noticed is that most of the rest of you guys seem to blog from work. (How the hell do you ever get anything done?) I'm the opposite. When I'm working, I'm running around all over the city and that's not really conducive to whipping out the laptop. Also, at least here in NYC (especially in the winter), there's very few places to sit down. (In the summer there's a bazzillion parks and my internet-anywhere-dongle works...anywhere).
Anyway, I just wanted an excuse to type bi-bloggular. Gotta go check stats over on the book and see what the rest of you are talking about today.
In fact, this post has inspired me to rename the whole damned thing. :-)
