Snow Pictures...As Promised...With Bonus Cats!

It was pretty much turning over to rain and sleet and starting to get dark when I shot these, so...

Excuses, excuses.

I don't know if they do this anywhere else (I've never seen it), but NYC has all of its garbage trucks rigged so they can mount a plow. There are some trucks that are dedicated strictly as salt-spreaders and plows, but mostly, they use the garbage trucks. I think that's a pretty bright idea, so we don't end up with a massive fleet of trucks that sit around doing nothing 90% of the time.

And here's some damn cats. You're welcome!

Hey, except for the cats that looks like yesterday. We don't do the garbage truck thing, but then we only have two trucks and we use them all year long (for the various projects the village has). If it gets real bad we work with the township which surrounds us. they have one truck and one streets employee, so we also help them a lot as well.

I think our cinder trucks are also dump type trucks.

But then our trucks get used all winter long.

Kitties are looking cute, although more like teenager kitties.

Yes Steve, it was yesterday. The cats were a few days ago.

And in comparison to your two trucks, NYC Dept of Sanitation has:

* 2,230 collection trucks
* 450 mechanical street sweepers
* 275 specialized collection trucks
* 365 salt/sand spreaders
* 298 front end loaders, and
* 2,360 various other support vehicles

They've also got about 7800 employees.

Oh, yeah, Nathan? Well, small town Ohio also has drunk Amish teenagers. So, nyeh.

And why don't you ever show the elder cat? Are you appallingly agist, or is s/he frightfully ugly?

Widget is adorable and less than 5 years old, so no ageism here.

She's just on a diet an a little sensitive about photographs.

Taxis. They should equip taxis with plows.

Or cats, equip the cats with little plows!

What?

Plows on taxis wouldn't work. There are entire neighborhoods you can't get them to go to. And they rarely go straight for any distance, always weaving in and out of traffic.

The cats could be organized better but I fear they lack the strength.
