More Outdoor Activities!

The coals are getting ready. The Asparagus is marinating. The steak is ready to go on the grill. And a really terrific salad is chilling in the fridge.

We just came back from a few hours of fishing and today's fishing was...less successful. I caught three... but two of them were the size of my index finger. GF lost lots of bait but never got a fish into the boat. She says she was just feeding them.

Earlier today, we braved the wilds of Mt. Airy. It's just 7 miles up the road. WooHoo!

At least I had on my most elegant attire!

We didn't bring home anything from there either.

Mt. Airy? You're in Cincinnati! Right down I-71. Let's meet for lunch in Jeffersonville tomorrow at the outlet mall. There's a Skyline. XD

Jeff, I'm in Eastern Pennsylvania...like 600 miles from Cincinnati.

But if I get any closer, you'll be the first to know

You're only 190 miles from Morgantown!

And Jeff, I know where the Jeffersonville outlets are.

So they still have a gold toe sock store? If not, I might not stop next time.

And Mt Airy is only 495 miles from Cincinnati. Take an hour off since you'd just being going to Jeffersonville, and it'd only be a 7 1/2 hour trip!

And the directions from Mt Airy to Cincinnati *totally* take you right past Morgantown!

Um... Where's the enthusiasm?

Michelle, I checked distance to Morgantown when we got here, but I figured it was still a little on the far side.

I was, in fact, kidding. Mt. Airy is also the name of a neighborhood in Cincinnati.

What's funny is that anything in Cinti is called a "mount" because that part of Ohio is flat as -- um, something flat other than a pancake. The city sits at the end of a valley formed by the Little Miami River and the 'hoods up on the bluffs are named things like Mt. Adams and Mt. Auburn. It's kind of ridiculous.

Michelle, I actually haven't been to the outlets in about a year, so I can't swear there's a sock store. I do need socks, though, so I might have to investigate. BTW, during the first week of July I was in the Laurel Highlands of PA visiting Fallingwater. I think I was less than an hour north of you!

Jeff,

I worked on a movie (Milk Money) and spent a few months there. Now that you mention them, I remember those neighborhoods. Don't remember Mt. Airy though.

I do remember trying to make some arrangements for filming we were going to do in Lebanon. I couldn't get the time of day from anyone. Eventually, I sent Asst. Location Manager to give it a try, thinking it might be something about me.

She came back and told me she had a bunch of deals in place and the folks there just didn't want to deal with a NY JewBoy.

Needless to say, I have warm fuzzy thoughts about Cinci and environs.

Amen. I lived there for a year and it was 363-1/2 days too long. Once I told a guy I was from Cleveland. He chuckled in this self-satisfied way that made you want to smack the crap out of him and said -- and I swear this is word-for-word -- "Well this must be the end of your Karmic death, huh?"

Asshole.

Now Cleveland. There's a place that loves 'em some Chosen Peoples! Mmmm...fresh bialys...aaghaaahhghhh...

Good things about Cincinnati:
1) My friend Andy, his wife, and their daughter.
2) My friend Susan.
3) Jungle Jim's

Jeff, we sometimes stop at that outlet mall depending on 1) how quickly we want to be somewhere and 2) outside temperatures.

(We travel with the cats, so stopping for an hour in July is Right Out.

Nathan, it's probably a shorter trip from Baltimore/DC.

Plus, I have family in DC, so we can spend the night at there house.

We being me and Michael.

Not you. Sorry.

When you said Mt Airy, I said shit, he's in the Pocono's! I was only an hour away from free lobster???? Damn.
Now that you know I won't stalk you for free lobster, can I ask what resort it was? It looks beautiful & serene, & I'm always looking for new places to go.
I'm just glad to see it wasn't 1 of the so classy Pocono resorts w/ the champagne glass shaped tubs, round beds, & mirrored walls. :-)

It's Mountain Spring Lake...and I've made sort of a tradition of saying where I went shortly before leaving...or after I'm already home.

It's a nice place. We've been there before.

Cool, thanks. I'll check it out.
I don't blame you, don't want any crazy internet stalkers following you.
Hope you had a great time. Sounds & looks like you did. You should be well rested to jump back into the insanity, right?
