Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!

Briefly checking in with all of you to let you know its a balmy One Degrees here in Brooklyn.

Feet. Not. Happy.

I'm not sure when I can check in again, but I'd love it if you send me warming thoughts.

I bought these:

http://www.myfootshop.com/detail.asp?ProductID=844 (from a different place) for my parents last year to wear to football games.

Hope you manage to stay warm! (It's a blamy 10 F here!)

It warmed up to 6 degrees here, now that the sun is up. I had to drag our garbage can 20 yards out to the road through knee deep snow when it was below zero though. That was not fun.

I hope it warms up for you though, because if memory serves, you actually have to be outside today. Eiw.

It's snowing here.

Stay warm and dry!

I'm taking this opportunity to warm up in the motor home because I have really important stuff to do on the computer. I didn't tell anyone that my version of "really important" consists of checking my blog.

Egads, that's miserably cold for you. You shouldn't have to live with an indignity like that. Especially when it's 27 F here, and I'm just below the Arctic Circle.

Ew, yuck! What a nasty day to work outside.

We actually have a rare midwinter day of sunshine today. I may go out for a lunchtime walk even though I am still hacking and coughing.

How'd that chore list go yesterday....

Yo GF,

I changed that lightbulb and I dropped off the laundry. Otherwise, not so good.

::grin::

And everybody else, its warmed up to a pleasant 24 degrees now. Almost bearable in the sun. On the whole, though, being outside all day today sucks with impunity.

But Weather.com tells me it feels like only 14.

The evil hat-hair has me in its grasp.

Cold weather story: In 2003, me and Mrs. went to Sundance (only movie we saw won the festival -- American Splendor; Ohio represents!). Since the ski resorts were reporting something like 36" base and it was, you know, January in the mountains, we planned ahead. New thermal longjohns and sweaters and parkas and boots.

The whole week it was never colder than 45. Back home in the Akron-Cleveland area? Never warmer than 20.

So, then. Frigid in NYC. Isn't there usually a trash can on fire nearby?

It's 11 F here in snowy Denver. Brrrr! It is also toasty warm in my office. Mmmmm... hot cocoa.

6:00pm update.

We've moved to a pier on the East River, so now, in addition to the cold, we have a nice refreshing breeze.

Praying we wrap by eight.

Hmm... I'm glad it's above freezing here, and that I've been inside for most of the day. This weekend I had to stand around in an unheated takeout - the vent hood over the cooking area sucks all the heat right out of the store, so they don't bother to turn the heat on at all, plus when the vent hood is on it creates a constant draft. And it can't be turned off because then the grease fumes get really bad. It was probably about 50 inside with a helluva wind chill factor. I'll have to remember to wear five layers next week.

Meanwhile, today has sucked rotten eggs. -.- We had the endgame of some long, drawn-out chat melodrama, and there's still fallout left to go through. Uhm. That's a large part of why I haven't updated my own blog very much in the past week...

Well, the good news here is that tomorrow its supposed to warm up just a little. Just enough that instead of snow, we'll get really cold rain.

Yay.

MWT,

I really think standing in your supercooled wind tunnel would have rated on my crappy things to do at work post. :-)

Hmm... good point. ;) If you ever rerun that particular thread, I'll have to remember this story.

I guess I just don't think about temperature discomfort as something that rates high on crappiness. I grew up in a house with no AC and no nighttime heat in the winters (house was the epitomy of anti-insulation). And in more recent years, at that same takeout I've stood around in 100+ heat in the summertimes while being plagued by gnats. It certainly doesn't compete (to my mind at least) with deranged baboons and situations involving human poo caked all over the walls.
