It's a Movie Post! No, It's an "About NYC" Post! It's a Floorwax! It's a Dessert Topping!

This is from some other movie, but you get the idea.

There are competing "No Parking" signs on my block for tomorrow morning. One set says there's no parking after 6:00 a.m. because the city is going to show up and finish re-paving my street. (They've left most of the paving equipment parked on the block.)

Another set says there's no parking after 5:00 a.m. because the TV show "Damages" is planning to be shooting here tomorrow.

Who will win? I don't know if my street's getting paved tomorrow or another episode of "Damages" will be closer to being in the can.

Mostly, I want to know if the Parking P.A.'s told the Location Manager about this or if he/she is going to have a new one reamed tomorrow morning.

Off topic - I noticed you have "Paladin of Souls" in your reading list. Have you read it yet, and if so, did you like it? It's one of my favorite fantasy books of all time. The hub didn't like it nearly as well as me, so it may be just me. LOL

I thought it was terrific. The three books aren't a trilogy in the sense of telling an ongoing story, but they are all set in the same universe.

I'd read the second and third books previously, but just read all three in order. Much more satisfying now that I read #1.

Tonight...on Damages--in a special cliffhanger episode Patty struggles to find parking on a street that's being repaved. One of these people will be towed! Christopher Walken guest-stars. Tonight!

(Do you know that I had no idea what this show even was until I looked it up on IMDB. It kinda feels wonderful, to be honest....)

Eric,

I haven't looked it up on IMDB, so I still have no idea what it is.

I wonder if you'll hear the yelling over the paver?

It's that lawyer show Glenn Close is on. It appears to be on basic cable, but I couldn't figure out which one. Which I only really wanted to know so I could throw it into the mock announcement--Tonight... on ABC! or whatever. I don't have basic cable, nor have I set up an antenna; the only things I watch on TV are DVDs.

Eric, you'd get along very well out my house. :)

Aside from WVU football games and the Rose Bowl parade, the only TV that is watched in my house is watched by my grandmother. Until she moved in, I hadn't lived in a house with cable since I was 11.

Though it's nice to be able to watch the football games, I'm not sure they'd be worth keeping Dish TV for.

Oooo OOoo, (rubbing hands together)....I think this is the show that "not hubbies brother" is working on...We had always hoped he'd work with Nathan as an assistant (LM in training)...let's see how he does with this delicious Locations test. If Locations beats City of NY on this one, I'd say that could mean a real plus on the resume. Nathan,...I look forward to the out come on this one.

No parking for Nathan!

I'm only 1/2 a block away. No worries.

:D

Oh, I wanted to find out how the contest ended. Entertainment Industry trumps Public Works.

I am not surprised.

Actually, I've run up against the 'milling and paving' folks and they're very accommodating. They figure they've got 10 other blocks in the immediate vicinity to work on and it won't be any big deal to leave one block alone for a day.

A friend of mine got them to do a week and a half long job on Fifth Avenue in 4 days so it would be done in time for a shoot.

I know what magnesium is. I know what a rake is. I've never heard of a magnesium rake.

Please illuminate me. (no pun intended.)

Tania said...

Exactly what it sounds like

A rake made of a magnesium alloy

They are used to move and level asphalt and burn magnificently.

Cash was spread around, including lunch for the entire D.O.T. crew at Bagel World.

OMG! Burning magnesium rakes would be AWESOME!
