I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I'd nearly forgotten about the contest until Nathan sent me an e-mail--which I received on my phone, because the internets were all down at my home last night.
I read the first book in the series back when I was in junior high or high school; I look forward to reading it again.
My sort-of-mentor in undergrad was a professor of Asian history who was obsessed by ducks. It's all-too-fitting that an entry inspired by the Cultural Revolution, as applied to ducks, won a book set in feudal China--I need to see if the e-mail I have for her still works.

Way to go Eric!!!!
Yay! Go Eric!!
And you'll have to give us a review of the ARC. I have the book on pre-order from SubPress, so I'm actually excited for you and envious of you.
Jealous! Jealous!
Also congratulations!
Alright Eric!
Hurrah for Eric!
(now we need to start badgering John for the hate-mail contest)

Oh... and has Jim won yet?
Bravo, Eric! Very well done. It took the accusatory allusions that many were referencing and showed, not told. Very well done.
Curse you, Eric, curse you.
