I rarely "recipe". (Can I verb that?) I just kinda threw this together.
1/2 chicken boiled/steamed in 4 cups of water.
BIG pinch of salt...maybe 2.
after chicken was cooked pull it out of pot and start adding veggies.
1 carrot 1 parsnip 1 potato 2 celery stalks. 1 can of peas (itty bitty one) 1 can of corn (itty bitty one) other stuff if you like.
pepper 1 small jar of "chicken gravy"
Shred the chicken back into the mix when it's cool enough to handle. (no knives involved...barbarian tearing required.)
Simmer for 1/2 hour to reduce. Add corn starch til properly thick. (If you're not used to using corn starch, disolve it in COLD water, get the pot boiling and stir in a little at a time. WAIT until boiling again to make sure you're not making bricks.)
Pour the stuff into dish. Cover with store-bought crescent dough.
And those are two really different recipes. Pick which one sounds good.
Also, BTW, I meant to use chicken stock instead of water but forgot. It's probably better I didn't 'cause this had plenty of flavor. (I didn't strain the chicken grease which is where most of the flavor is anyway.)

OK, I'm tired, and that didn't make sense. But I think you know what I mean.

The three of us will it a large pan in two days. We'll be sorry we did, but we'll do it anyway.

Yes, yes they are.
Most people look at the Turkey Pie recipe kinda funny.
Then they try it.
It's pure comfort food for me, although the peaches do come out of the oven approximately the temperature of the sun.
Thanks to you both for the recipes. I've saved them both and intend to try them both.
Of course, now I'm hungry.
Damn.
Oh well.
Mmmm... chicken pot pie sounds good. The return of comfort food to the menu is one of the things I love about fall. :)
